Jane Corrigan
Lightning!
March 14th – April 19th
Opening Reception Saturday, March 14th, 6–8pm
711 Warren St., Hudson, NY
Retrospective is very pleased to announce Lightning! A show which continues Jane Corrigan's comical and poignant depictions of human nature, this time at the dawn of its creation. This round of characters, animated with the legginess of a cautious but persevering foal, are caught in scenes which articulate a communal processing of their surroundings, and fear driven flight from the reign of primordial nature.
A crack in the sky powerfully symbolizes Corrigan's aperionic world, as a chaotic prelude. Still grappling with social dynamics, as well as gender identity and personal psychology, her character's challenges come in the immediate form of survival from the elements, with a noticeable absence of man's descent into evil. They operate at that biblical cusp, before rape and war, as Corrigan offers space for introspection through her simplifications and a light wielding of some imagined collective memory.

The exhibition will run concurrently with a show of new works by Josh Mannis, Brian Rochefort and Mason Saltarrelli at 727 Warren St.
